A Word from “Mama” Fondly called Aunty May
The name “Vigilant Heart” was given to the NGO by my husband and unanimously adopted by the Board of Trustees.
“it is an apt description”, he said of my “ever-ready alertness and concerns for the poor, orphans and the underprivileged”. According to him, a loving heart is a vigilant heart. I believe that offering aids and charity to the poor, orphans and the very needy is one of the ways we can contribute towards a better world. Many children live as orphans and cases of extreme poverty abound. Under these circumstances charity and donations become invaluable. We have been able to make a positive change in the lives of a number of children, imparting in them virtues and basic primary education which should be the right of every child.
We are concerned that there is a rise in the cases of abandoned children. It is possible that the parents of these children were faced with challenges. However, they should be reminded that they have the bounden duty of care and protection of their children. We should practice heroic virtues. This means practicing virtues not only when it is convenient for us but struggling to control our will or desire and doing virtuous deeds.
The Home requires daily maintenance and equipments that will ensure the comfort of the children.
Sponsorship for orphans, abandoned children and children in abject poverty to meet their health and educational needs.
Provide assistance for our crisis pregnancy project so as to ensure more women or couples desist from aborting unwanted babies.
Feeding the needy, hungry children and community around us.
